The symposium kicked off with Dr. Bryan Li’s sharing on the importance of collaboration between medical professionals and social welfare professions. For new niches in palliative care, Senior Lecturer Carmen Lee from Tung Wah College gave a live harp performance and introduced the application of music therapy in palliative care. Concluding the event was Assistant Professor of Medicine Sandy Tun from the University of Chicago, who examined the new challenges the “Silver Tsunami” would bring to the society, as well as Dr. Harry Wu, who explained how HKU’s Bachelor of Medicine and Bachelor of Surgery Programme (MBBS) trains talents for the palliative industry.
